What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use gopalut.com, why we collect it and what rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
The data we collect
This site has no user accounts and no forms. We only collect personal data in these cases:
- When you contact us. If you email us or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your name, contact details and anything you choose to tell us.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider records basic technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This keeps the site secure and working.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not sell your data.
Why we use your data
- To reply to you. We use your message to answer it and discuss your project. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in replying to enquiries, or taking steps you ask for before a contract.
- To keep the site safe. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
- To meet the law. We keep some business records because the law requires it.
Who we share data with
We only share data with providers who help us run the site and our business: website hosting (Vercel), domain and email routing (Cloudflare), image delivery (Cloudinary), our email provider, and WhatsApp (Meta) if you message us there. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
When you click a "Get a quote" button you go to skcodelab.com, our tech service brand. Anything you send there is covered by the policies on that site.
Data outside the UK
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. When this happens, we rely on safeguards recognised by UK law, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep data
We keep enquiry emails and messages for up to two years after our last contact, unless they lead to a contract. Business and contract records are kept for six years, as UK law requires. Our hosting provider keeps server logs for a short time only.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal data
- ask us to correct or delete it
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
- ask us to move your data to another organisation
To use any of these rights, email us at Email us. We will reply within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
